Swiss Chard and Potato Casserole

Ingredients
  

Vegetables
  • 1 bunch Swiss chard washed and chopped
  • 4 medium potatoes peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion chopped
Dairy
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated cheese such as Gruyère or cheddar
Seasonings
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon thyme dried or fresh

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
  3. Add the Swiss chard and cook until wilted. Remove from heat.
Assembly
  1. In a baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
  2. Spread the sautéed Swiss chard mixture over the potatoes.
  3. Add the remaining potatoes on top.
  4. Pour the heavy cream over the layers and sprinkle with cheese, salt, pepper, and thyme.
Baking
  1. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  3. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
