Quick & Easy Homemade Butter Chicken

Ingredients
  

Chicken Marinade
  • 1 lb Boneless Chicken Thighs Cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup Plain Yogurt For marinating
  • 2 tbsp Garam Masala
  • 1 tbsp Ground Turmeric
  • 1 tbsp Ground Cumin
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 medium Onion Finely chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1 inch Ginger Grated
  • 1 can Crushed Tomatoes 14 oz
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1 tbsp Sugar To balance acidity
  • 1 tsp Ground Coriander
  • 1 tsp Chili Powder Adjust for spice level
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Cilantro Chopped, for garnish

Method
 

Marinate the Chicken
  1. In a bowl, combine the chicken pieces with yogurt, garam masala, turmeric, cumin, salt, and lemon juice. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
Cook the Chicken
  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the marinated chicken to the skillet and cook until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.
Prepare the Sauce
  1. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir well. Let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  2. Reduce the heat and stir in the heavy cream, sugar, ground coriander, and chili powder. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
Serve
  1. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan.

Notes

For a spicier version, increase the amount of chili powder or add fresh green chilies.
