Method
Prepare the Dough
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture and olive oil, stirring until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your outdoor pizza oven according to the manufacturer's instructions, aiming for a temperature of around 700°F.
Shape the Pizza
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal portions. Roll out each portion on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Transfer the rolled dough to a pizza peel dusted with flour or cornmeal to prevent sticking.
Add Toppings and Bake
- Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese and add your choice of toppings. Season with dried oregano.
- Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza oven stone. Bake for about 8-10 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
Serve
- Remove the pizza from the oven using the pizza peel. Let it cool for a minute, then slice and serve hot.
