Base Ingredients
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Spices and Flavorings
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional

Method
 

Cooking the Sauce
  1. In a saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, honey, and Worcestershire sauce.
  2. Whisk the ingredients together until smooth.
  3. Add smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  4. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  5. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  6. Remove from heat and let cool before using or storing.
