Ingredients
  

Chocolate Mousse
  • 1 cup heavy cream chilled
  • 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chopped
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Strawberry Topping
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries sliced
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar for macerating
Garnish
  • 1/4 cup whipped cream for topping
  • 2 tbsp chocolate shavings

Method
 

Prepare the Chocolate Mousse
  1. Melt the chopped chocolate in a double boiler over simmering water, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy. Gradually add the melted chocolate and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture until fully incorporated.
Prepare the Strawberry Topping
  1. In a bowl, combine sliced strawberries with granulated sugar. Let sit for about 10 minutes to macerate.
Assemble the Dessert Cups
  1. Spoon the chocolate mousse into serving cups, filling them about halfway.
  2. Top the mousse with the macerated strawberries.
  3. Finish with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle chocolate shavings on top.

Notes

For a more intense chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet.
