Ingredients
  

Blackberry Filling
  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar adjust based on sweetness preference
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch for thickening
Dumpling Dough
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter cold, cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk

Method
 

Prepare Blackberry Filling
  1. In a saucepan, combine blackberries, sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Cook over medium heat until the mixture starts to bubble and thicken, about 5-7 minutes.
Make Dumpling Dough
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the milk until just combined.
Combine and Cook
  1. Pour the blackberry filling into a baking dish. Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling dough over the filling. Cover the dish with foil.
  2. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes, until the dumplings are cooked through and golden.
