Ingredients
  

Chicken
  • 1 whole whole chicken about 4-5 pounds
Beer
  • 1 can lager beer any light lager works well
Spices
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for coating the chicken
  • 1 tablespoon paprika for seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional for heat

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the grill to medium heat (about 350°F).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Rub the spice mixture all over the chicken, including under the skin for more flavor.
Cooking
  1. Open the can of beer and take a few sips to make it easier to fit in the chicken.
  2. Place the beer can inside the cavity of the chicken, ensuring it stands upright.
  3. Place the chicken on the grill, standing upright on the beer can, and close the lid.
  4. Grill the chicken for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  5. Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.
